How to Apply Abyssinian / Daikon Oil to Hair:

After washing hair: Shampoo with a clarifying shampoo. Do not use a hair conditioner (see Why are Hair Conditioners Bad). Towel dry hair very well. This makes it less oily because the hair absorbs the water and oil together. Also, the heat from the shower and hands helps the oil spread more evenly. Place a few drops up to a small puddle in your palm.  How much depends on how thick and long your hair is. Briskly rub hands together until the oil gets hot. This thins out the oil to help it apply evenly. Starting at the ends and working up, run sections of hair between your palms and fingers. When you have a very thin layer of oil left on your hands, start at the face and work back to get rid of “flyaways”. Brushing hair will further spread out the oil. (see How Much Oil Do I Need for My Hair?)

Style as normal. Another great use for Abyssinian oil is high heat applications (blow drying, blow outs, flat or curling irons). The unique fatty acid composition makes it extremely resistant to oxidation under high heat (basically, it won't get gummy). These same fatty acids provide barrier protection for your hair from the high heat naturally. Now that you skipped the “hair conditioner” you don't have to experience burning silicone fumes while your hair breaks off from the damage of putting drying alcohols on your hair!
