How Julia’s Essentials Abyssinian Oil is Made
At Julia’s Essentials, we are committed to quality and sustainability, from the soil to your doorstep. Explore our in-depth article on prioritizing sustainability, nourishing the soil, and protecting the bees.
It starts with a collective of small regenerative farms being dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our planet. They begin with using verified NON-GMO seeds. They are committed to optimizing water management while promoting biodiversity, thus creating a thriving environment for pollinators such as bees. Using seasonal planting so the soil is never bare, helps the farms in capturing carbon from the atmosphere, preventing soil erosion and maintaining healthy root systems in the fields.
The farms take great care to ensure that the crops are cultivated, processed, packaged, and transported in a manner that is both safe and sustainable. By implementing mindful logistics practices, they actively work towards reducing freight, packaging, and overall environmental impact. The meticulous approach to stewardship guarantees that there is no co-mingling of genetic material.
Once the seeds are received at the pressing facility they are rigorously cleaned from any debris and soil. They are then pressed twice without adding any heat, chemicals or solvents. The oil is then decanted to remove any seed husks from the oil. The next stage in the advanced filtering method is degumming through a centrifuge. This means they mix the oil with purified reverse osmosis water so any water soluble impurities can be thoroughly removed. Natural bentonite clays are then added to bind to any colors and impurities that could still be left and then filtered out. This extensive filtration process leaves a beautiful yellow tinted, light weight, easily absorbable, crystal clear oil with a comedogenic rating of 0 meaning it is acne safe.
The UV resistant dark cobalt blue glass bottles are filled with Abyssinian oil. They are capped with a glass pipette, food grade non-rubber dropper and top. Placed in a beautiful and sturdy bespoke mailing tube, then sent out to you! The time between the oil getting pressed to getting it in your hands is only a couple of months. This is the freshest oil on the market!
